Railing in a metal version for H0 scale, that is 1:87. Metal has one essential advantage over plastic: a thin section stays thin and still does not bend at every touch. Railing around a meter high in reality works out at just under twelve millimeters in this scale, and at that size every unnecessary tenth of a millimeter in the thickness of a post shows at once.
First mark the run of the railing out with a fine pencil or against a ruler, so that it runs straight; a row of posts set crooked shows at once from above. Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the point of separation. Glue metal with cyanoacrylate glue applied in small drops; glue for polystyrene does not hold on it. Check the first few posts from the side and from above once glued, while the position can still be adjusted.
Wash and degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will come off when it is handled. Choose the shade according to the setting: station railing tends to be uniform and kept, railing in an industrial yard rather scuffed. Once dry, go lightly over the edges with a dry brush and dust the lower part with pigment, so that the element does not look as if it had just been delivered. Railing belongs among the details that give a scene scale, because as soon as it stands where it would have to stand in reality, a layout starts to look inhabited.
Railing is supplied in the stated extent. A base, buildings, the paints, primer and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
