1:35 Suitcases. 8 pcs resin. decal

The real subject

Luggage is among the most rewarding small things in a diorama. Suitcases stacked on the bed of a truck, set down on a platform or dropped by a road speak of travelers, refugees and soldiers on their way home, and they give a scene scale and movement without drawing attention away from the main model.

What the set contains

The package consists of eight suitcases in 1:35 scale of resin and a sheet of decals for decorating the smooth surfaces. Eight pieces are enough for a whole pile of luggage, so on a diorama you can stack them on top of one another, lean them against a wall or place them around the scene individually.

Building and painting tips

Resin parts behave differently from polystyrene, but working with them is easy:

• Use super glue for gluing; cement for polystyrene does not hold here
• Before painting, degrease the surface and let it dry, or the base coat will not hold
• Apply the paint over a thin layer of base coat, as the smooth surfaces of suitcases are prone to scuffing
• Apply the decals only onto dried paint and follow the manufacturer's instructions
• Coat the finished piece of luggage with a varnish, so that the edges of the decals disappear

Suitcases look best when they differ from one another in color. Leather shades of brown, dark fiberboard and a lighter canvas side by side break the impression that these are eight identical castings, and scuffed edges can be suggested with a dry brush.

Who it is for

The set suits civilian and military scenes in 1:35 scale, from a railway station and a hotel entrance to a loaded cart on a country road. A model, figures, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
