A plastic kit of the van version of the Renault 4 F4 Fourgonnette in 1:24 scale from Heller.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Renault 4 was among the most widespread French cars of the second half of the twentieth century. The F4 Fourgonnette version is its commercial form, with a raised closed box body in place of the rear of the bodywork, which turned the small car into a modest load carrier. Tradesmen, bakers, the post office and small shopkeepers drove it all over Europe, and its angular rear is still to be seen in period photographs and in street traffic today.
It is an injection-molded kit in 1:24 scale meant to be glued and sprayed. The parts are held on sprues, are separated with nippers and the remains of the gates are leveled with a file or abrasive paper.
The large flat surfaces of the box body are the most conspicuous thing on this vehicle, so it pays to spend time sanding the seams and laying the paint on evenly with an airbrush. Commercial vehicles were almost never clean, and light dirtying of the underside and the body transitions does more for a model than a perfect gloss. Flattening the tire where it meets the surface adds credibility to a standing vehicle.
The set will please collectors of European cars as well as modelers who build street scenes. Paints, glue and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
