The nozzle decides the fineness of the spray pattern and is at the same time the most delicate part of the whole airbrush. At this size its inner channel has a cross section comparable to a human hair, so a dried droplet or a coarser pigment can put it out of action. The package contains the nozzle and the cap, which protects it, directs the stream of air around the mouth and shields it when the airbrush is set down.
The most common cause is not wear but overtightening during assembly: the material is soft and the thread strips easily. The second culprit tends to be cleaning with a hard wire, which widens the channel or makes it oval. The cap suffers mainly in falls; a dented one disturbs the symmetry of the line just as reliably as a distorted needle tip. The third cause tends to be dried paint that nobody removed in time; at the next tightening the hard residue then works like a wedge and damages the mouth.
