The Yamaha VMAX ranks among the power cruisers, machines that join a low, long silhouette to a strong engine. It is driven by a V4 engine and the machine makes no attempt to hide it: the engine, the intakes along the sides of the tank and the massive rear tire are among the things by which you recognize a VMAX from a distance. The version under the New Silver Dust designation is built on a light silver shade, which brings out the shapes and edges more than the dark finishes do.
Motorcycles are built predominantly in 1:12 scale, and in it the VMAX comes out as a proper piece for a display case. On a motorcycle nothing is hidden by bodywork, so every part of the frame, the suspension and the exhaust system leaves its mark on the result. That is exactly why motorcycles are a rewarding subject: the finished model is seen from every side and rewards careful work on the details.
Silver shades with a metallic effect behave differently from ordinary colors. Lay them on evenly and preferably in two passes, because a difference in the density of the metallic particles tends to show in the area of overspray. The surface beneath them has to be smooth and degreased. The assembled frame and engine are easier to paint before final assembly; a brush or a nozzle will not reach some places later. The particular procedure and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The kit is meant for collectors of road motorcycles and for modelers who want to try working with metallic shades. Paints, glue and other materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
