A short-run injection-molded plastic kit of the unique American Douglas EC-24A electronic warfare aircraft in 1:144 scale from the manufacturer X-Scale. It is a short-run kit intended for more experienced modelers; it usually contains masks and decals for one particular machine. Check the exact contents of the package against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Douglas EC-24A was the only aircraft of its kind, converted from a four-engined DC-8 series airliner into a platform for electronic warfare. It was operated by the manufacturer on behalf of the US Navy for electronic warfare training and support. The fuselage was fitted with a great many antennas and a conspicuous underfuselage pod. The machine served until the end of the 1990s and then went to the aircraft storage facility in Arizona.
Cut the parts off the sprues and glue clean joints with thin model cement for plastic; with a short-run molding allow for sanding and cleaning up the seams. Fit and glue the glazing and the many antennas carefully, ideally using cyanoacrylate glue on the small projections. Apply a primer before painting and cover with an airbrush. After the gloss varnish and the decals, bring the panel lines out with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
