Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the German ocean-going submarine of Type IXC/40, specifically the boat U-190, in 1:144 scale from Revell. The model holds around a hundred parts and the finished submarine is about 47.5 cm long, so it makes an impressive piece for a display case. A straightforward build and a sensible part count make the model a suitable project for moderately advanced modelers from about twelve years of age. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Type IX submarines were large German ocean-going boats meant for long-range operations on the open sea, including distant areas of the Atlantic. The IXC/40 subtype was an improved variant with greater range. These submarines carried a strong torpedo armament and, thanks to their long reach, operated far from their home bases. Their long, slender silhouette with a conning tower and a deck gun is characteristic and typical of the era of the Battle of the Atlantic.
Glue the hull halves together firmly and fill and sand the seam along the top and the keel carefully - on a submarine a long seam is the most visible thing there is. For the typical finish use gray shades with a darker top and lighter sides, and blur the transition with an airbrush. Bring the deck and the details of the tower to life with a wash and dry-brushing. Set the model on the stand supplied, or build it as a waterline model in a diorama with a water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
