The kit 1:144 McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender / KDC-10 KLu captures the three-engined tanker and transport aircraft in both the American and the Dutch version.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from the Ukrainian brand AMP represents the three-engined tanker and transport aircraft derived from the wide-body DC-10 airliner. One box covers the American KC-10 Extender and the Dutch KDC-10 alike, so before building you choose which air force the finished model will belong to.
The KC-10 came about at the end of the 1970s from a requirement to refuel in flight over long distances and at the same time to carry cargo and personnel. Compared with its civil predecessor it was given tanks in the lower deck, a refueling boom at the tail and a station for the operator who controls the transfer of fuel. The Dutch Air Force had two former transport machines rebuilt to KDC-10 standard and operated them for decades, among other things on moves of its own fighter squadrons across the ocean.
The fuselage has long smooth flanks on which every unevenness shows, so it pays to fill and sand the seams carefully to a high smoothness. Apply the base in thin coats; light shades then hold an even tone better. Mask the windows and transparencies before you reach for the airbrush, and lay the extensive decals onto a gloss surface, so that no silvered edges form under them.
In the package you will find parts for building; paints, glue and other modeling supplies are not to be looked for in it, unless stated otherwise.
