Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the famous Swedish warship Wasa (Vasa) in 1:144 scale from Airfix. It is a reissue of classic tooling from the Vintage Classics range. The model offers a richly decorated stern, sides covered with carvings and detailed deck fittings; the assembled hull is about 49 cm long. It comes as an unassembled and unpainted kit.
The Wasa was a lavish Swedish galleon built on the orders of King Gustav II Adolf as a symbol of naval power in the Baltic Sea. The ship was overloaded with armament and a tall superstructure, so on her maiden voyage in 1628 she heeled over and sank just after leaving Stockholm harbor. Her raised and preserved wreck is today one of the best-known museum exhibits of its period.
Work from the hull and the decks toward the richly decorated stern, where patient painting of the individual carvings pays off. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. Add the rigging with modeling thread; a firm stand is welcome for stable display. Bring the richly decorated areas to life with light drybrushing and dark washes in the recesses.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
