The Bismarck was a German battleship of the Second World War, one of the two units of her class. The characteristic features of her appearance were four twin main-gun turrets arranged in pairs forward and aft, a massive command superstructure with rangefinders, and a single funnel with a cap. The ship was sunk in 1941 on her first operational sortie in the Atlantic. It is the fine features — railings, ladders, the rangefinder platforms, the boats and gratings — that are necessarily simplified in plastic and that in large scales are replaced with more accurate accessories.
Detailing a large model is more demanding than an ordinary build. The original plastic parts are often cut off or sanded away so that the accessory sits exactly in their place. Fold in a bending tool or between two blades, otherwise the edges come out uneven. Glue the small parts with cyanoacrylate and paint them while they are still on the fret; once they are glued on you can hardly reach them. Work from the bottom up, that is the decks and platforms first and only then the railings and rigging, otherwise you will break the finished parts during the rest of the work.
This is an accessory, not a model of the ship. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
