An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous ocean liner Olympic in the large 1:200 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The model captures the ship in her wartime form as the military transport HMT with a striking dazzle camouflage. It is a large model for demanding builders. According to the manufacturer, the package contains decals and rich equipment for the detailed building of this legendary ship of the Olympic class.
The Olympic was the first and also the longest-serving ship of the class named after her, and the older sister ship of the celebrated Titanic. Unlike her, she had a long and successful career. In the First World War she was requisitioned and served the Royal Navy as a military transport under the designation HMT, dressed in dazzle camouflage and armed with guns. After the war she returned to civil service and sailed for many more years.
Given the size, plan the build in large subassemblies. Decide in advance between the full hull and a waterline version. Use thin cement for plastic and attach the fine accessories and the rigging at the end of the build. Finish and paint the superstructures and the decks before the final assembly. Apply a primer and spray the paints with an airbrush; the broken-up dazzle camouflage calls for careful masking of the hard transitions. We recommend displaying the model on a firm stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
