An injection-molded plastic kit that captures the British Jaguar XJ220 supercar. The 1:48 standard does not apply here: 1:24 is the usual scale for car models, so the finished car fits well into a display case among other cars and is large enough for the detailing of the interior and the chassis to stand out. The model is intended to be glued and painted.
The Jaguar XJ220 was a supercar built in the early nineties in a small number of examples. The production car received a forced-induction six-cylinder engine mounted ahead of the rear axle and rear-wheel drive, unlike the original concept, which was planned with a twelve-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive. The long, low body with prominent side cooling-air intakes and a long wheelbase was tuned for top speed, thanks to which the XJ220 ranked at the very top among the fastest production cars in the world at the time of its launch. The combination of rarity, striking shapes and British origin still makes it one of the most sought-after subjects among collectors of supercars.
On this kind of model the body is the main star, so give it the most time. Sand down the mold parting seams, smooth the surface with fine sandpaper and polishing compound and apply primer. Spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats, and once it has dried add gloss clear and polish it. Glue the chrome parts and the mirrors with a low-bloom cyanoacrylate, so that the glazing does not fog. Apply the decals onto a gloss surface and then settle them down with decal softener. Finish the interior in matte shades instead, so that it contrasts with the glossy body.
