1:24 MK.36 bombs (1000 lbs) (2 pcs) offers a pair of naval thousand-pound bombs of the kind carried by US Navy carrier aircraft and RAF machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
Reskit has added two pieces of the MK.36 bomb in the thousand-pound weight class to its range of large ordnance. In shape it is a typically naval item, differing from army bombs in the arrangement of the lug and in the fittings for release from a dive. Resin printing manages the thin edges of the fins and the small projections on the casing.
The MK.36 came about by reworking the army thousand-pound bomb for the needs of the Navy. The changes concerned the fuzes, the lifting lug with a guide lug and the trunnions for dive releases, while the filling was TNT instead of the mixture used by the army. The type replaced the older MK.13 series and lasted in carrier magazines past the end of the war; machines such as the Helldiver, the Skyraider and the Corsair flew with it, and the British side received identical rounds. Over Korea it was among the basic equipment for attacks on bridges and railway junctions.
After removing the supports, check against the light whether any imprint is left on the casing; a drop of thin filler and sanding will level any unevenness. Clear the resin of dust with compressed air before spraying. Naval ordnance tended to be in a darker olive than army rounds, and on later ones a gray casing also appears. Lettering is done by scratching into the paint or with a thin line, because the set contains no markings.
The package contains the ordnance only, without paints, glue and without a carrier aircraft.
