A kit of a two-axle semi-trailer for carrying a forty-foot maritime container in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A container semi-trailer is a simple but unmissable piece of equipment: a long load-bearing frame on a chassis, on which the container is secured by corner locks. This one is the version for a forty-foot maritime container in a two-axle arrangement. Forty feet is roughly 12.2 meters, so in 1:32 scale the length of the load works out at about 38 centimeters; the finished rig is therefore a sizeable thing and it is worth thinking about room in the display case in advance.
The model is built from plastic parts in the usual way: part the pieces carefully, level the places where they were parted with a sharp knife and test them dry before gluing. On a long frame it pays to watch that it stays straight; let the glued joints dry in one plane, or the trailer will twist and that shows at once on a flat board. Assemble the axles and their mountings so that all the wheels sit down; you check that best on glass, where every gap under a tire shows against the light.
Semi-trailers in service tend to be scuffed and dirty, above all around the mudguards, on the frame and around the support legs. So darken the deep base shade with a deposit of dust from below and leave the surface cleaner on top. In 1:32 scale the trailer goes with tractor units of the same scale and also looks good on its own as an element of a harbor or transfer-yard scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue, decals and other accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
