Reskit makes resin and 3D printed accessories with which a model gets closer to its real operational configuration. This set in 1:32 scale represents an underwing fuel tank of 610 gallons in the version for the Japanese F-15J and F-15DJ fighters. It is an accessory for a finished model that is fitted onto a pylon. The casting has a smooth surface with no parting line, so the laborious leveling of seams typical of two-part plastic tanks falls away.
The F-15 is a twin-engined heavy fighter intended to win air superiority. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force operates the single-seat F-15J and the two-seat F-15DJ trainer, which came about through license production. Drop tanks of 610 gallons are carried on the centerline and wing pylons of the F-15 and are visible in service photographs practically all the time, so a model looks more realistic with them.
Wash the resin parts before the build in lukewarm water with detergent so that no mold release agent is left on them. Cut the casting block away with a saw and level the surface with a file or with wet sandpaper; protect your airways when sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally a gel, which lets the part be set exactly on the pylon. A primer forms the base under the paint, and both acrylic and lacquer then hold on it.
