About product

Reskit 1:32 A-7D Corsair II - intakes, wheel bays, legs and wheels (for the Trumpeter kit)

One of the most extensive detail sets Reskit offers for the large 1:32 scale. In one package you get several groups of parts at once: air intakes, wheel bays, landing gear legs and wheels for the A-7D Corsair II. The parts are 3D printed in modeling resin and are designed as a direct replacement for the plastic parts of the A-7 kit from the manufacturer Trumpeter. It is not an aircraft kit - the model itself has to be obtained separately.

What the set solves

In 1:32 scale a model is so large that it is looked at from close up - and the intakes, the open wheel bays and the landing gear are precisely the places where injection-molded plastic runs out of breath fastest. Intakes tend to be short and with visible joints, bays bare and without lines, gear legs without fine links and wheels with a simplified tread pattern. The resin parts offer thin walls, clean internal surfaces in the intakes, rendered bays and faithful detail on the gear legs and the wheels. Because the set covers all these areas at once, the result looks consistent - you are not mixing a resin bay with a plastic landing gear. The A-7D was a land-based attack aircraft of the US Air Force derived from the naval Corsair II; with its large circular intake under the cockpit, its nose is one of the identifying features of the type.

Working with resin parts

  • Wash all the parts in lukewarm soapy water first - without that the paint will not hold.
  • Cut the print supports off with a saw or a sharp knife; never break them.
  • Bond with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or epoxy; cement for plastic will not join resin.
  • Landing gear legs are more fragile in resin than in plastic - handle them carefully and on a heavy 1:32 model consider reinforcing them with a pin.
  • Sand wet and with a respirator, because resin dust is harmful to health.
  • Apply a primer before painting; it pays to paint and weather the bays and the intakes before closing the fuselage.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the A-7D Corsair II in 1:32 scale from the Trumpeter kit.
  • Modelers who want to deal with the intakes, the bays and the landing gear in one purchase.
  • Experienced modelers and contest builders with experience of resin accessories.

This is an accessory (a comprehensive detail set), not an aircraft model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.

FAQ

The set covers the air intakes, the wheel bays, the landing gear legs and the wheels for the A-7D Corsair II in 1:32 scale. The aircraft model is not included.

It is designed for the A-7 Corsair II kit in 1:32 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter, where it replaces the corresponding plastic parts.

Resin gear legs are strong but more fragile than plastic. On a heavy model it is advisable to bond the joints with super glue and to consider reinforcing them with a metal pin.

Rather not. Working with resin calls for washing the parts, cutting off the supports, sanding with respiratory protection and bonding with cyanoacrylate - the set is intended for more experienced modelers.
