This item is a resin accessory from Reskit, not a kit of an aircraft. It serves to let a modeler replace the coarser plastic external armament from the box with more accurate castings, or to add armament to an aircraft still on the bench. According to the name it consists of a pair of AGM-65 Maverick missiles with the LAU-117 launcher. Resin holds the sharp edges of the fins, the fine transition of the seeker head and the small relief of the launcher, that is exactly the places where injection-molded plastic in an ordinary kit usually goes soft.
The AGM-65 Maverick is an American tactical air-to-ground guided missile intended against point ground targets and smaller vessels. It appeared in several guidance forms, among them television, imaging infrared and laser guidance, and over its service life a wide range of tactical aircraft carried it. The LAU-117 is a single-rail launcher for one missile, hung under a wing or fuselage pylon.
Separate the parts from the block with a fine-toothed saw, and never break them. Make the cut a little way from the part and finish the remainder with abrasive paper, ideally wet, so that no dust is raised. Before gluing, wash the whole casting in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry, which gets rid of any mold release agent. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate, as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on it. Prepare the surface with primer, otherwise paint holds poorly on a smooth surface. Only once it is dry should you move on to the armament shades and to setting the seeker head, the launcher and the leading edges of the missile apart.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
