1:32 AIM-4C Falcon missiles (4 pcs) brings to a model the early American infrared-guided air-to-air missile.
Responsibility details are not available.
Armament for Cold War interceptors. Missiles of the Falcon family have a slender body with long surfaces and differ from later weapons at first glance. The set is there to arm a model of your own; it cannot be built on its own.
The Falcon was the first guided air-to-air weapon put into production service with the US Air Force, and it came about at a time when fighters were expected above all to intercept bomber formations. The version designated C belongs to the infrared branch of the family and homes on the heat signature of the target. The weapon was carried by interceptors such as the Northrop F-89 Scorpion or the Convair F-102 Delta Dagger, where it was stowed in internal weapons bays and swung out for the attack. Against maneuvering targets, however, it did not prove itself, and in later years more flexible designs replaced it.
The long surfaces of the missile are thin and easily twisted, so handle the parts by the body and never by the tips of the surfaces. When fitting them into the extending trapezes, check that all the missiles are in the same position. Keep the finish restrained; period weapons usually carried a light base with narrow colored bands near the nose.
Without an aircraft of your own the accessory cannot be put to use.
