Reskit F-111C escape pod (crew module), RAAF, 1:32 is a resin and 3D-printed model of the escape capsule of the Australian F-111C on its own. It is not an aircraft kit; it is a separate detailed model of the escape module.
Responsibility details are not available.
Careful: this is NOT an aircraft kit. It is a model of the escape module (the crew capsule) of the F-111C of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1:32 scale from Reskit. You cannot build the whole aircraft from it. The set is conceived as a self-contained, eye-catching exhibit: it combines cast resin for the large parts with 3D printing for the fine detail (the seats, for example), and adds injection-molded clear parts for the glazing, photo-etched parts, a mask for the glazing, decals and a display stand. The module can be built either intact or in the state after separation from the aircraft (with panels missing); the doors can be shown open or closed. The Australian edition also includes a bonus kangaroo figure. Assembled, the module in 1:32 is about the size of a palm; on a shelf it looks like a handsome piece on its own and it is a rewarding subject for a diorama.
The F-111 had no ejection seats. Instead, in an emergency the entire sealed capsule with both crew members separated from the aircraft as one module, with the crew still strapped in and without personal parachutes. The module flew clear on a rocket motor, came down on a parachute and the impact was cushioned by air bags that also served as floats: the module was watertight, floated, could right itself and served the crew as a floating shelter until rescue arrived. That is exactly why this part of the F-111 is such a rewarding subject, and it is the whole point of this set. The F-111C is the Australian version of the variable-geometry bomber operated by the Royal Australian Air Force; Australians nicknamed it the Pig.
Resin parts cannot be glued with polystyrene cement; use cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or two-part epoxy. Wash the parts first in lukewarm water with detergent so that the mold release agent is removed, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife, do not snap them. Resin dust is harmful to health, so sand wet and with respiratory protection. Apply primer before painting; protect the clear glazing with the supplied mask and glue it with canopy glue, not with cyanoacrylate, which would fog it.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin and 3D-printed kit. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. It is not a model of the complete aircraft.
