A set of 3D decals for the cockpit interior of the British Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB fighter in 1:32 scale. Unlike an ordinary decal, the artwork is not flat - it carries a raised relief, so the instrument panel and the panels gain real depth. It is an accessory to a kit, not a model and not a kit. The set is intended for the Revell kit.
A photoetched set calls for bending, gluing and usually painting too, and with resin the casting blocks have to be cut off as well. A 3D decal is applied much like a classic decal, it usually arrives already finished in color, and the result is legible even under the canopy glazing. For modelers who avoid photoetch it is the fastest route to a detailed interior. In 1:32 scale the cockpit is clearly visible through the large canopy of the Hurricane, so an investment in the interior pays off more than in smaller scales.
The Hurricane Mk.IIB was the machine-gun version of the Hurricane with a Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine and twelve .303 caliber machine guns in the wings. The airframe structure grew out of a fabric-covered tube framework fuselage, which was reflected in the layout of the cockpit as well - the instrument panel and the side panels of the Hurricane have a characteristic look that a model without accessories can hardly capture.
Prepare the surface under the decal smooth and clean, with no paint residue from an earlier coat. Soak the part briefly, let it rest and transfer the decal into place without sliding it. Use a softener carefully and rather sparingly - a raised relief takes a weaker attack than a classic flat decal. Finish the cockpit only after it has dried completely, and before you close up the fuselage check with a dry fit that the parts come together without pressure.
