It is a suitable choice for a quick build, for younger modelers and for anyone who wants the result on the table in the course of a single afternoon.
The Bf 109G, nicknamed Gustav, was the most heavily produced version of the whole series. Compared with the earlier forms it received a more powerful Daimler-Benz 605 series engine and heavier gun armament, because of which the characteristic bulges over the gun breeches appeared on the engine cowling. It is precisely by these that the G-6 version is recognized at first glance. The machine served on every front where the Luftwaffe fighter force operated, and it has come down to us in a great many different camouflage schemes.
Even though the joints hold by themselves, after a trial assembly it pays to add a drop of cement for plastic in hidden places, and the model will then stand up to handling. Before joining the parts, think the order through: the cockpit and the landing gear bays are easier to paint while open. Painting is not compulsory, but even a simple spray of the basic scheme and a darker wash into the engraved lines will transform the result fundamentally. Apply the decals over a gloss base and fix them with a decal softener; unify the surface with a matte varnish at the end. The frames of the canopy are easy to reach in this scale and can be painted with a brush.
