Quinta Studio Red-Blue Formation Lights (Type C, 1:32)

A universal set of colored 3D-printed decals that reproduce the red and blue formation lights on the skin of an aircraft. The relief decal on decal paper captures both the raised shape of the light cover and its color, so laborious masking and painting of tiny areas is no longer needed. It is not an aircraft model but a surface detail accessory suitable for models of various types in the same scale.

The real subject

Formation lights help aircraft hold formation in poor visibility; they are usually made as low-intensity strips or as covers in characteristic colors. Type C denotes one particular shape of these lights.

Use

• Cut the part out, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and slide it off the backing.
• Settle the decal in place and press it down with a soft cloth.
• Do not use a decal softener, as the chemicals attack the printed resin.
• Once dry it can be covered with a thin coat of clear varnish to even everything out.
