This is not a model of an aircraft but a resin detail set from the maker Aires. The set replaces the simplified wheel bays in a plastic kit with a faithful resin replica with rich internal structure, wiring and bracing. It is intended for the two-seat training and interceptor versions of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, specifically the TF-104G, the CF-104D and the F-104DJ/F, in 1:32 scale.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was a supersonic fighter aircraft with a distinctively slender fuselage and short straight wings. The two-seat versions served for training pilots; they were operated by the US Air Force and by a number of allies, for instance the Canadian and European air forces. The wheel bays on this type are markedly intricate, which makes them a rewarding place for superdetailing.
First wash the mold release residue off the parts, cut the casting blocks off and sand the surfaces down with respiratory protection. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Given the modification needed, the set suits more experienced modelers.
