1:35 Antique street lamp

A historic street lamp, 1:35 scale

A street lamp in period style in 1:35 scale. It is a separate accessory for urban dioramas, for bases and for display-case scenes, not a kit.

Why the lamp is worth it

A street lamp is one of the few elements that turn a flat scene into a street. It gives the scene a vertical line, breaks up a horizontal composition and hints to the viewer at the period and the place, because an urban setting is easiest to judge from its lights. In 1:35 scale the shape of the pole and the ornament of the head also come out well, so the lamp can carry a place of its own on a base next to a vehicle or a figure.

Building and painting tips

• Cut away surplus material with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the remainder.
• Before painting, wash and degrease the surface, holding the thin parts by the lower part of the pole.
• A cast-iron finish stands out over a dark base, with the edges and the ornament brought out with a dry brush.
• Suggest a weathered finish with small flakes, not with a continuous layer of rust over the whole height.
• When gluing it to a base, support the lamp until the glue has hardened, so that it stands upright.

Who it is for

For builders of urban dioramas and for modelers who want to set a display-case scene in an environment. It also serves as an anchor point of the composition around which figures are arranged. The manufacturer gives the dimensions, the number of parts and the extent of the package.

Paints and glue are not supplied, unless stated otherwise.
