The Bantam 40 BRC was an American light reconnaissance car with all-wheel drive, which came about at the American Bantam company as one of the immediate forerunners of the later jeep. Only a relatively small number were built, and a considerable part of the vehicles went under Lend-Lease to Allied armies outside the United States. The vehicle served mainly for communication, reconnaissance and carrying the wounded, that is for tasks where agility and low weight decided.
It is an injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale. The parts are placed on sprues and building instructions belong to the package. The kit is supplied unassembled and without paints, so the assembly and the overall color finish are up to you.
Separate the parts with nippers a little away from the part and sand the remainder of the gate, so that no burr is left. The open body lets you look in at the floor and the instrument panel, so it pays to paint the inside before you put the whole vehicle together. Wash and degrease the model before painting, lay down a continuous base coat and only then apply the covering shade. A small scale forgives little, so deburr the small parts and dose the glue sparingly.
The set will please modelers interested in Allied vehicles of the Second World War and also suits as a striking element in a diorama with figures. Paints, glue and modeling tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
