A British tank crew, Second World War is a set of figures in 1:35 scale from the Italian brand Royal Model, intended for models of Allied armored vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
A multi-figure set from Royal Model, as the name itself suggests: it is a crew, not a single figure. The men are rendered in the kit of the British armored corps, that is in one-piece work overalls and with the black beret that was the recognition mark of tankers. The set is prepared for models in 1:35 scale, which is where most kits of Allied vehicles from this period belong.
British tanks of the period were usually operated by a crew of five: the commander, the gunner, the loader who was also the radio operator, the driver and the operator of the machine gun in the hull. The men shared a very cramped space and out of combat they spent their time on the hull or around it; brewing tea at the rear of a tank was one of the inescapable images of the Western Front. In winter a quilted oversuit was added to the kit, along with a headset that a man wore even outside, so as to stay in touch.
With a group of figures the composition is what decides: arrange them so that they connect to one another by a glance or a gesture, otherwise the scene looks like a random gathering. Shift the khaki of each figure a fraction: the same shade on every uniform gives away at once that it is a set. Mute the beret to a very dark gray.
The set comes without a finish and without a model of a vehicle; the paints are obtained separately.
