An injection-molded plastic kit of the eight-wheeled BTR-80 armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale from Zvezda. The model consists of several dozen parts and builds one vehicle; it also includes decals for period markings. It is an unassembled and unpainted kit, meant to be joined with ordinary modeling cement for plastic.
The BTR-80 is an amphibious eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier taken into service in the 1980s as a successor to the older BTR-70 types. It is driven by a single diesel engine (unlike its twin-engined predecessors), carries a crew and several dismounting soldiers and has a combination of machine guns in the turret, including a heavy 14.5 mm weapon. Thanks to its buoyancy and all-wheel drive it is suited to heavy going and to crossing water obstacles.
With wheeled carriers it pays to assemble and paint the running gear before you close up the hull. We recommend a primer base, applying the flat shades with an airbrush and finally bringing the surface to life with washes and pigments for mud and dust effects on the wheels and the underside of the vehicle. It is a good idea to bring out the engraved details with a paneliner.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
