An early seated crew for the CH-54A Tarhe helicopter in 1:35: three 3D printed figures made ready for the cockpit of the kit from ICM.
Responsibility details are not available.
Three seated figures printed at high resolution, intended to be glued into the cockpit of the Sikorsky CH-54A Tarhe heavy helicopter from the brand ICM. The posture of the body and the angle of the legs match sitting at the controls, so once seated the figures do not look stiff. The gear points to the first period of the service of the machine, between 1962 and 1968.
Besides the pair of pilots up front, the Tarhe also had a separate station for the load operator, turned to face rearward into the glazing above the hoist. From there the picking up and setting down of a load was controlled. It is precisely this third place that tends to be empty on finished models, and it is the absence you notice first.
The Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane in its army form carried only a beam spine instead of a fuselage, so the space under the machine stayed free for slung loads. In Vietnam it lifted artillery pieces onto mountain ridges and towed damaged machines back to base. It earned the nickname its crews gave it honestly: it lifted loads that other helicopters would not attempt.
The helicopter itself is sold separately; this is about finishing off the glazed cockpit. Seat the figures before the nose shells are joined together, otherwise you will no longer get inside.
