An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Challenger 2 main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Rye Field Model (RFM). The version matches the standard combat configuration of the vehicle. RFM is valued for fine surface detail and a well worked-out running gear; the package usually holds workable individual track links, photo-etched parts, clear parts and decals for several marking options. The exact contents of the package are given by the manufacturer's instructions.
The Challenger 2 is the main battle tank of the British Army, developed by Vickers as the successor to the Challenger 1. It entered service in the late 1990s and carried a 120 mm rifled gun and Chobham/Dorchester type composite armor. It proved itself an exceptionally resilient combat platform and was used among other places in the Balkans and in Iraq. It is among the best-armored tanks of its generation.
Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. Finish and paint the running gear and the lower hull before you close the upper parts up. Assemble the workable tracks patiently and let them dry thoroughly. After the base color, best over a primer and with an airbrush, lift the surface with dark washes in the recesses and with dust or mud pigments on the running gear and the lower areas.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
