A figure of a German driver of a Citroen passenger car from the period of the Second World War, cast in polyurethane resin in 1:35 scale. It is not a supplementary part of the vehicle but a standalone figure meant to bring the car to life; an empty seat behind the wheel turns a model into a display exhibit, whereas an occupied vehicle tells a story.
After the fall of France in 1940 a large number of French passenger cars passed into the hands of the occupation administration and the army. The best known of them, the Citroen Traction Avant with front-wheel drive and a unibody, served as a staff and liaison car until the end of the war and appears in photographs from Normandy to the Balkans. It is exactly for that car that this driver figure in this scale lends itself.
First wash the casting so that no mold release agent is left on the surface, cut the casting residues off with a saw and level the area. Resin takes paint badly without an undercoat, so a thin primer pays off. Build the uniform from a dark base toward lightened folds, and the skin from a middle layer both upward and downward. Always dry-fit the figure in the cab first, so that the position of the legs and the arms matches.
The figure is supplied unglued and unpainted; the package contains neither paints nor glue.
