An injection-molded plastic model of the German light vehicle Pkw.K1 Kübelwagen Type 823 in 1:35 scale from Meng. It is a special variant of the Kübelwagen with a rotating dummy turret set on the body. The kit offers clear parts for the lights and the windshield, soft vinyl tires including the spare, and fine details such as seats with a fabric texture.
The Kübelwagen, literally the bucket car, was a German light military utility car derived from the civilian Volkswagen and used in the Second World War in many roles — as a liaison, reconnaissance or staff vehicle. The Type 823 version was based on the widespread Type 82 and was marked by a dummy turret on the roof; it served above all for training infantry to work with tanks and was also used in North Africa as a decoy vehicle meant to mislead the enemy and aerial reconnaissance.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement; the vinyl tires cannot be glued with ordinary cement for plastic — seat them mechanically or use super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer and spray the paints with an airbrush in thin coats. You will bring the vehicle to life with a fine wash in the recesses and light dust pigments; for a desert setting it pays to bring out the dusty surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
