Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Bronco. The real subject is the flamethrower version of the German light tank Panzer II, which the army designation listed as Sd.Kfz.122. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and it is intended for modelers with basic experience of building armor. The particular contents of the package differ between the individual releases of this subject, so before building it pays to check the enclosed instructions.
The order for a flamethrower tank on the Panzer II chassis was placed in February 1939 and series production got under way in January 1940. The conversions were carried out by the Wegmann company in Kassel. The vehicle received a new, markedly smaller turret with a single MG 34 machine gun, while the main armament consisted of two remotely controlled flamethrowers housed in small rotating heads on the front corners of the hull. The supply of fuel amounted to 320 liters and four nitrogen pressure bottles, hidden in armored boxes on the sides of the superstructure, served to expel it. From January 1940 to March 1942 155 examples were built, mostly on new chassis, and a further 43 vehicles were converted from Panzer II Ausf. D and Ausf. E tanks. The vehicle was used mainly on the Eastern Front, and both its weak armor and the limited reach of the flamethrowers soon showed the limits of the whole concept.
Glue the model with liquid cement for plastic, which flows into the joint by capillary action and leaves no fingerprints. On this type of vehicle pay attention to the running gear, which is partly inaccessible once assembled, so finish and paint the wheels, the return rollers and the track before you close the sides of the hull. Apply the base finish over a primer, otherwise the paint holds badly on smooth plastic. After spraying we recommend a wash in the recesses and the engraved lines and dry pigments for dust and mud effects on the chassis. The small flamethrower heads on the corners of the hull are fragile, so fit them only at the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
