An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-8 heavy flamethrower tank in 1:72 scale from PST. It is a classic kit to be glued and painted, which faithfully captures the characteristic shape of the hull and the turret of the heavy tanks of the KV series. The model is intended to be built from individual parts and will appeal above all to enthusiasts of Soviet armor of the Second World War.
The KV-8 was the flamethrower adaptation of the KV-1 heavy tank. In place of the coaxial machine gun the tank was given a built-in flamethrower, while the main armament was reduced to a gun of 45 mm caliber. That gun was hidden in a wider jacket, so that the machine looked outwardly like an ordinary KV with a 76 mm gun and the enemy would not spot the flamethrower tank. The Red Army deployed the KV-8 from 1942 for breaking through fortified positions and for fighting in built-up areas.
On armored equipment it pays to assemble and fine-tune the running gear and any interior before closing up the hull. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic, sand the seams and treat the surface with a base color (a primer). Apply the colors with an airbrush and finish the look with weathering — a dark wash into the recesses, dust and mud pigments on the running gear and light rubbing on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
