This set from the Italian brand Royal Model captures men of a tank unit in the setting of the last year of the war on the Apennine peninsula. The castings are in resin, they are supplied unpainted and they serve as an accessory to a finished vehicle in 1:35 scale.
The fighting in Italy had a character of its own in 1944: mountainous terrain, narrow roads and densely built-up valleys limited the movement of armor, so crews often stayed around their vehicles on foot and improvised both cover and camouflage. In the warm climate the clothing was combined more loosely than in northern Europe, and alongside the dark tank suit there were summer trousers, shirts and various forms of headgear. It is exactly that mixture that makes the Italian subject rewarding for figure painters.
First rinse the parts in lukewarm water with detergent so that any residue of the release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, level the surfaces with sandpaper and protect your airways while working. Join the arms and heads with cyanoacrylate glue. Start the painting with a thin primer, build the face and hands up with glazes and shade the cloth according to the real shape of the folds.
The figures arrive unassembled and unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
