• Patina and age: muted gray-green and light green shades in the recesses suggest moss and lichen, and careful stippling of rust on the metal parts.
• The flesh tones of the figure: work from a muted base toward lighter layers on the chest, the face and the knees; shadows in the hollows of the muscles and light red toning give the sculpture depth.
