A plastic kit of the K808 wheeled armored personnel carrier, which today forms the backbone of the rapid infantry of the Republic of Korea. The model in 1:35 scale offers steerable front axles, an optional bow wave deflector and the option of mounting either a heavy machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher on the roof. Etched parts and several marking options including a parade finish are included as well.
The K808, nicknamed the White Tiger, was developed by a domestic engineering group as an eight-wheeled armored vehicle with all-wheel drive, a swimming capability and a high proportion of local components. It entered service in the second half of the last decade and replaces older tracked carriers where speed of movement by road matters. Its wheeled chassis concept lets it keep a high cruising speed while carrying a full infantry squad into contact with the enemy.
First finish the axles and the suspension while access to the hull is still good. Paint the rubber tires separately and only then fit them onto the rims. Modern equipment is not weathered into dilapidation; it is rather a matter of fine dust in the places the crew does not reach: around the wheel hubs, in the gaps of the fenders and on the lower edge of the hull. Fill the optics and the instrument glazing with gloss varnish so that they reflect.
The vehicle is in the box broken down on sprues and without a finish. Glue and paints are not enclosed, unless stated otherwise.
