Replacement wheels with an off-road tread in the second variant, five pieces in all, together with the front axle torsion bar of the Kubelwagen type 82.

The light Wehrmacht staff car did not run on a single type of tire throughout the war. Several makers supplied tires for it and the patterns changed during production, so in period photographs of the same vehicle type you will find treads with different patterns. This set offers the second form, which differs from the first in the arrangement of the grooves, and gives the modeler the chance to build two cars side by side without their looking like copies.
The package consists of five finished wheels including the rims and one part of the torsion bar for the front suspension. Fitting them needs no changes to the frame; the wheels seat on the original mountings of the kit, and the same goes for the spare carried on the nose of the car.
The difference from a part pulled out of a steel mold shows best on the sidewall. That is where the surface is thinnest, and yet the lettering, the size marking and the outline of the rim are supposed to be legible on it. Injection-molded plastic flattens that detail, because the material has to flow into the mold and the edge rounds off. A hard casting, on the other hand, holds a sharp transition even where the layer is barely a tenth of a millimeter thick. Working it is simple: the wheel is separated from its gate, the contact surface is leveled and the surface is degreased before spraying. It takes paint just as well as polystyrene, and it is only worth starting with a thin primer coat.
On a model of a car the wheels are the part the eye slides to first, because they sit lowest and carry the whole outline. Time spent on them is time well saved elsewhere.
