Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-1 heavy tank, model 1942, with the simplified welded turret in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The box additionally contains tank crew figures. The model is built as an unassembled kit.
The KV-1 was a Soviet heavy tank of the early Second World War that at first, with its thick armor, resisted most German anti-tank weapons. The main armament was a 76 mm gun and the tank was known above all for the toughness of its armor. The model 1942 version received thicker armor and a simplified welded turret that was less demanding to produce, which reflected the need for fast wartime manufacture. The price of that ruggedness was considerable weight, which strained the gearbox and the running gear and limited mobility. The tank formed the backbone of Soviet heavy tank units until it was gradually replaced by more modern and better balanced types.
First assemble and paint the running gear and the lower hull, which on a heavy tank is a prominent visible area. Prepare the individual link tracks separately and pay attention to their sag. For the typical Soviet look use a primer, the base green through an airbrush, washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud; wear on the edges and chipped paint will give the tank a frontline character. The crew figures bring the model and any diorama to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
