A plastic kit of the German Leopard 2 main battle tank in the A6M+ version in 1:35 scale from the German maker Revell. 1:35 is the most widespread scale for military vehicles, so the finished model can be combined with figures, accessories and diorama elements from a wide range. The A6M+ version is a late stage of development that, besides the long barrel of the main gun, adds measures to protect the crew in asymmetric fighting.
The Leopard 2 is a German main battle tank introduced at the end of the 1970s that became one of the most widespread Western tanks of all. The A6 version brought the most marked change in armament: a Rheinmetall 120 mm smoothbore gun in the longer L/55 length, which over the older shorter barrel raises muzzle velocity and range. The letter M follows a mine protection package in the floor of the hull, together with changes to the internal fittings of the crew compartment. The A6M+ form then adds further protective elements drawn from experience on deployments abroad. The angular wedge-shaped turret and the long barrel reaching beyond the outline of the hull remain the typical visual marks of the Leopard 2 family.
On a tank it pays to finish the running gear and the inner sides of the hull before closing the whole up, because you will not reach them later. Fit the tracks only once the suspension is painted. Build the base with a primer, spray the main shade with an airbrush and do a multi-color camouflage with a soft mask or freehand at low pressure. Once dry comes a gloss varnish under the decals, then a wash into the recesses and edge highlighting with a dry brush. Finish the dust and mud on the suspension and the side skirts with pigments, which give the tank its scale weight. Leave the optics and the lights right to the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
