1:35 M3 Stuart Early Prod. is a plastic kit of the American light tank in its early production form, released by MiniArt.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit of the American light tank M3 Stuart captures its early production form, that is machines with a riveted hull and the equipment of the first batches. The set consists of injection-molded plastic sprues completed by an etched sheet and a decal sheet with several marking options. The Early Prod. designation in the name points to exactly this production stage and sets the boxing apart from the later versions with a welded hull.
The M3 entered service in 1941 and became one of the most widespread Allied light tanks of the first years of the war. It was powered by a radial engine, and the main armament was a 37 mm gun backed by machine guns. The vehicle stood out for its speed, easy maintenance and reliability, which British tank crews in North Africa valued in particular. Service continued in the Pacific and in Europe, where the M3 was no longer a match for heavier opponents but proved itself in reconnaissance and as an infantry escort.
The riveted surfaces of the early hull deserve careful sanding so that they do not lose the fine rivet heads. Assemble the running gear on a flat surface and spray it before the fenders go on. An olive green base comes out well after a lighter mist coat over the upper surfaces to imitate fading. Dust shades of pigment suit the lower hull and the wheels, and the decals settle best on a gloss coat.
The package holds molded sprues, photo-etch, decals and instructions, not a finished machine. Paints and glue are obtained separately by the modeler.
