A metal 75 mm M3 gun barrel for models of the M4 Sherman family in 1:35 scale, together with a printed canvas cover. It replaces the plastic barrel from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 75 mm M3 gun was the main armament of a large part of the M4 Sherman family. Crews often pulled a canvas cover over the mantlet, which closed the gap around the barrel and kept dirt and water out of the turret. On a model it is a striking element: the softly rippled fabric next to the smooth metal of the barrel brings the whole front of the turret to life.
The metal barrel is machined, so it has an exact round section along its whole length and there is no seam from two glued halves to clean up. The canvas cover is a printed part with the folds of the fabric modeled in, so next to the smooth barrel it looks soft. Both take the place of the kit parts.
On the printed cover, first remove the print supports and sand the marks left by them with a fine abrasive. Just degrease the metal barrel and try it dry in the gun mantlet; only then glue it, and with super glue, because polystyrene cement works neither on metal nor on a printed part. Before painting, wash and degrease both parts and use a primer. It pays to set the canvas apart with a flatter shade and a light accent on the folds, so that it reads as fabric next to the metal.
The tank model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
