An injection-molded plastic kit of the American medium tank Sherman in the M4A3 variant with the long 76 mm gun, wet stowage of the ammunition and the new HVSS suspension, in its early form. The scale is 1:35. The set is tied to a particular named machine, so the finished model comes with a story attached.
Late Shermans received three substantial changes compared with the early machines. The longer 76 mm gun improved the ability to punch through armor at a greater distance, wet stowage of the ammunition cut down fires after a hit, and the new HVSS suspension with wide tracks improved the ride across country and spread the weight. It is precisely the wide tracks and the different running gear that tell a late Sherman from an early one at first glance. Vehicles in this form reached the units in the last year of the war.
The running gear with the new suspension has a great many parts, so finish and paint it before you attach the side skirts. The long barrel is the most exposed part of all, so clean the parting line off it carefully. The olive finish comes to life with lightened upper surfaces, a wash running into the recesses and rubs on the edges and the steps. Paint the stowed equipment away from the model and fit it at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
