A supplementary resin set for the Ariete tank in the late form from the Italian Antica Babilonia mission, 1:35 scale, aims at the external fittings and the modifications of the Iraqi deployment.
Responsibility details are not available.
A conversion package in cast resin focused on the form that the Italian tanks carried in the later phase of their presence in Iraq. It deals with the exterior details in which the machines in the desert differed from the factory version. The base model has to be obtained separately, as this item does not replace any kit.
The Italian contingent operated from 2003 in southern Iraq in the area of the town of Nasiriyah and formed one of the largest European contributions to the operation there. The Ariete tanks covered the mechanized units and during the deployment they gradually received additional protection and further modifications forced on them by the environment and by the nature of the fighting. Fine desert dust also troubled the filters and the moving parts of the running gear, so improvised covers appeared on the vehicles as well. Later machines are told from those of the first months mainly by the superstructures and by the distribution of stores on the hull.
Release the castings with a cut just above the casting gate and level the mating surfaces with a file. Cyanoacrylate makes the joint, and on large surfaces a two-part epoxy with a longer setting time helps. Rinse the parts before you start gluing, otherwise the paint will not hold on a greasy surface. A uniform primer coat evens out the difference between resin and plastic. The desert scheme is brought to life by dust pigments and a lighter dry brush on the edges, and perhaps by gently rubbing the finish through in the places where the crew routinely walks.
