The real subject

The Merkava Mk.4 is an Israeli main battle tank, recognizable by its wedge-shaped turret and by the engine placed in the front part of the hull. On the roof of the turret it carries machine guns and the mounts that belong to them. In injection-molded plastic these small parts are inevitably thicker than reality would call for, and on a finished model that shows, because they stand free above the outline of the turret.

What is in the box

Two machine guns in the V.2 version and two mounts for a model in 1:35 scale, cut for the Meng kit. The same set is also made in the V.1 version, so compare the shape of the parts with photographs of the particular machine you are building. The parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue; their placement and any modifications to the plastic parts are shown in the instructions supplied by the maker.

Building and painting tips

The barrels and the frames of the mounts are slender, so cut them away with a sharp blade supported from underneath and then sand the surface only lightly. Wash and degrease the parts before painting so that the paint holds. The machine guns stand out when the edges and the places exposed to rubbing are gently picked out over a dark base. Check the elevation of the weapons dry, while the parts can still be moved, and only then apply the glue.

The set belongs in the hands of modelers who build contemporary Israeli vehicles in 1:35 scale and want the armament on the turret to be finer. The package contains only the parts named; the kit, paints and glue are not included unless stated otherwise.
