This set is not a model of the vehicle but a photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Voyager Model brand, aimed above all at faithful fenders for the French AMX-13 light tank. Thin metal fenders look far more realistic in scale than thicker plastic parts and can be bent naturally into a service-worn shape.
The AMX-13 is a French light tank developed after the Second World War, famous for its oscillating turret with an autoloader (a revolver magazine). Thanks to its low weight and good mobility it suited reconnaissance and airborne use and served in many armies of the world for long decades. The fenders are among the features that catch the eye at once on a model when they are done in metal.
Photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a cutting surface and bent over a metal ruler or in a bending tool. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or two-part epoxy; cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Before painting it pays to degrease the parts and spray on a primer for good paint adhesion. The accessory is designed for the Tamiya 35349 kit.
