The Italian brand Royal Model supplies fine metal parts for the eight-wheeled German reconnaissance car, which replace what a plastic mold can only suggest. This is the first of two follow-on packages, so it concentrates on the main areas of the hull and the superstructure. The contents are not a kit of the vehicle but a refinement of it; you will use them while building the matching kit in the same scale.
The Sd.Kfz. 232 was a heavy reconnaissance armored car with drive to all eight wheels and with two driver's stations, so it reversed as fast as it drove forward. It differed from the basic version in its powerful radio set and in the conspicuous frame antenna above the hull. The German army used it in Poland, in France, in North Africa and on the Eastern Front. Reconnaissance detachments valued its speed on the road and the range of its transmitter, and its thin armor and sensitivity to soft ground rather less.
Separate the parts on a hard level surface, ideally on a piece of glass, so that the thin sheet does not bend. Level the remains of the sprue gates with a fine file and give the finished parts a primer intended for metal before painting; without it a finish holds badly on the smooth surface and peels off during further handling.
The contents are metal parts only; obtain the plastic kit, glue and paints separately.
