About product

Skoda LT vz. 35 and R-2 (2 in 1) in 1:35 scale from Bronco

An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Bronco in a 2 in 1 form. From one box two variants of the same chassis can be built - the Czechoslovak Skoda LT vz. 35 light tank, or its Romanian export version, the R-2. Photo-etched parts and a decal sheet with several marking options for vehicles of the Eastern European Axis forces go with the model.

The real subject

The LT vz. 35 is a product of the Czechoslovak armament industry - a light tank designed and built by the Skoda works in Pilsen in the 1930s. It was among the most widespread tanks of the prewar Czechoslovak army and carried a 37 mm Skoda gun and machine guns, with a crew of four. After the occupation in 1939 Germany took over a large part of these machines and committed them under the designation Panzer 35(t), especially in the early stages of the Second World War. The R-2 version came about as the export form delivered to Romania, where it formed the backbone of the local armored units.

Building and painting tips

On tanks, assemble and glue the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull - on a finished model they are hard to reach. Glue the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply the base coat with an airbrush and pay attention to the difference between the Czechoslovak and the German or Romanian finish, depending on the variant you choose. A realistic patina comes from dark washes in the recesses, picking out the edges, and dust and mud pigments on the lower parts and the tracks.

Who the model is for

  • Anyone interested in Czechoslovak interwar armor
  • Collectors of tanks of the early Second World War
  • Modelers who want two versions from one box (the LT vz. 35 and the R-2)
  • More advanced beginners and experienced builders alike

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
