This injection-molded plastic kit from the Ukrainian brand MiniArt represents the Soviet SU-122 self-propelled gun in its late production form, in 1:35 scale. It is a so-called interior kit — it holds a fully detailed inside of the fighting compartment, the V-2-34 engine and a detailed engine and transmission compartment. Workable (link-and-length) tracks, photo-etched parts and clear parts are included.
The SU-122 was a Soviet self-propelled gun built on the chassis of the T-34 tank. It carried a howitzer of 122 mm caliber in a fixed superstructure and was used from 1943 for direct fire support of the infantry and for destroying fortifications. The late production batches differed in details of the hull, the superstructure and the equipment. The vehicle combined firepower with the mobility of the proven T-34 chassis.
Because of its rich interior the model is more demanding — finish and paint the running gear, the engine and the inside of the superstructure before you close up the hull. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic; a primer and an airbrush are recommended. Soviet green (4BO) with washes and dust pigments will give the vehicle realistic weathering. Open hatches make it possible to show off the elaborate interior.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
