The SUU-11B/A pod houses a rapid-firing gun of 7.62 mm caliber and was hung on the external pylons of aircraft and helicopters alike. The 1:35 scale matches the usual helicopter kits, so the accessory fits into assemblies where most aviation accessories are of different dimensions.
A rotary machine gun is marked by a very high rate of fire, made possible by a revolving cluster of barrels. Against a classic single-barrel weapon it will stand a far higher rate of fire without the barrel overheating. In service it proved itself against area targets on the ground and in suppressing fire during an approach, which made it usual equipment on armed helicopters and light combat aircraft.
Drill the muzzles out carefully; a small intervention lifts the impression of the whole part. Degrease the surface before painting and use a darker undercoat, on which metallic shades come out better. Combustion deposits settled quickly on the lower part of the pod, so a gentle dusting with a dark pigment looks convincing. Try the mounting points dry. Apply any stenciling and warning markings only to a smoothed surface; on a rough undercoat they settle badly.
