A printed paper sheet 16 x 11 cm with cartons of the American C-Ration in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
On a sheet measuring sixteen by eleven centimeters are printed the unfolded packages from which, once cut out and glued, shipping cartons of the American C-Ration in 1:35 scale are made. The material is fine paper, so a finished carton has the right thin edge and flat surface and needs no painting at all.
The C-Ration was created at the end of the 1930s as canned food for a soldier out of reach of a field kitchen. It consisted of a pair of cans, one of which held a meat dish and the other biscuits with a drink powder, and for shipping it was packed twelve at a time into a cardboard package. In that form it traveled from the landings in North Africa through Normandy to Korea, and heaps of empty cartons were part of the typical mess around every position.
Before cutting out, check where the folds run and mark them with a blunt point along a rule. Folding is easier dry, and only then is glue applied to the flaps. A crumpled or torn carton looks more convincing in a scene than a perfectly regular box, so feel free to damage some of the pieces deliberately. Color the white cuts on the edges in with a pencil in the shade of the printing.
A scalpel, a steel rule and paper glue have to be your own, as do the base of the scene and the figures the cartons are piled up beside.
Sister sheets from the same manufacturer cover packages of other nationalities and of the postwar period, so a supply corner of a scene can be put together without any printing repeating twice side by side.
